Tower Defence

Nobody Told The Gnomes

A lane-based tower defence game. You play as humans defending against waves of gnomes. Place just four turrets and one trap wisely — every wave gets harder, and the road never stops moving.

What Is Nobody Told The Gnomes?

Nobody Told The Gnomes cover art

Nobody Told The Gnomes is a lane-based tower defence game built in Godot. You are the last human settlement, and the gnomes are coming — not in random swarms, but along an authored road through hand-crafted maps. Every wave is carefully tuned, every turn of the path a deliberate choice by the level designer.

Your defensive palette is deliberately tiny: four turret types and one trap. No walls, no upgrades, no resource gathering, no hero units. Victory comes from placing the right turret in the right spot at the right time, and from managing the economy of gold-per-kill across fifty waves of increasing intensity.

Built in the Godot Engine with GDScript, the game runs on a shared flow-field crowd simulation that handles 2,000–3,000 gnomes per map while staying smooth on modest hardware.

Key Features

Behind the Scenes

Nobody Told The Gnomes is built in Godot 4.7 with GDScript. The project uses a custom flow-field system for gnome pathfinding, a text-map authoring format for hand-crafted levels, and a phase-based economy (build → fight → spend → fight harder).
